General Questions
What makes Girls & Curls different from other stylist and makeup
artists?
Girls & Curls is an On Location Hair & Makeup Service. I have a studio for trial runs but on
your Special Day, my business is coming to you on your schedule. Unlike most “makeup artists”
or makeup counter girls, I am licensed and I specialize in Weddings &
Brides. I have found that most
salons don’t specialize in Weddings…their daily clients come
first which can cause problems and stress.
I no longer have a “salon clientele” because I am 100% devoted
to You and Your Special Day. My business is very important to me and so are
my Brides. You will find Girls &
Curls to be Professional, Prompt and Lots of Fun!

Why do I need a professional makeup artist?
This is a special day and you shouldn't have to worry
about doing it yourself! Let a professional who specializes in
weddings take care of you. The most important thing is that you look good
in your pictures. With my knowledge in different makeup styles, I can help
you achieve the look you want. Everyday makeup is very different from
photography makeup and knowing how to blend the two together will make all
the difference in pictures.

Why are you more affordable than other hair and makeup artists?
When I got married, I had a professional come to me and
do my hair. I loved feeling pampered that day. I think that every bride, no
matter what her budget is, deserves to feel special and I can help achieve
that at an affordable price.

What is the benefit to having someone come to do the entire bridal party
versus just the bride?
Think of it this way…It would be like sending your
bridesmaids to get their dresses, but not telling them the style or color
you want. It could be chaos, different styles and colors that may not blend
well together.
It's kind of the same thing. If you tell your girls to
come with their hair and makeup done, you could end up with all types of looks
and styles. If everyone gets their hair and/or makeup done with one person,
you will have continuity in your pictures. Some brides have told me that
they don't care, but they should. You've spent a lot of time and money on the wedding to make it
look perfect, you and your bridal party should look perfect as well.

I think that this is just a luxury that I can't afford. Why should I
budget hair and makeup?
Getting your hair and/or makeup done for you is a
luxury but I want every bride, no matter what her budget is, to know that
they can afford to feel pampered on their special day! With Girls & Curls, you will
get an awesome service at a great price.

Why did you get into this profession?
Ever since I can remember I've always had my hands in
someone's hair. In high school and college I did my own hair for formals
and special occasions. Once in a while a couple of my friends had me do
theirs as well. For my brother's wedding, I wanted to get my hair done but
I didn't know who to go to. My
stylist gave me a referral and I went to see him. Well, 2 hours later I looked to be about
35 years old (I was actually 16) it wasn't quite what I was hoping for.
That was the first and the last “updo”
stylist that I would trust, so I thought.
A few years later, I met a young and energetic stylist
who did hair and makeup for weddings. We hit it off right away. I learned a lot from her, especially how
to do a great updo in just a few minutes. We did
tons of weddings and bridal fashion shows together. For my wedding gift,
she came up to Denver
to do my hair as well as my sister’s
and mom’s. It was so refreshing
to have someone doing my hair that could do an updo.
After all the weddings I've done, and experiencing
it first hand, I knew that this is what I wanted to do with my life. I went
to cosmetology school with the intentions of starting my business. Now,
here I am and loving what I do! I'm honored to be a part of each and every
bride's Special Day and to know that I helped make someone’s Dream Wedding
come true.

Trial Run Questions
When should I schedule my trial run?
At least one month prior to your wedding date. I
recommend that you come in as soon as possible; dates
book up quickly.

What times are you available to do trial runs?
I take appointments Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
starting at 10am and my last is at 4pm. The trial run will take 2 to 2½ hours.

Why don’t you have weekend trial run
appointments?
I don’t have weekend trial run appointments because
I am out on location and not available to be at the studio for appointments.

Why is your last appointment at 4pm, do you have
later appointments?
My last appointment for the day is at 4pm because the
trial run takes 2 to 2½ hours. Late evening appointments can be hard after
you have had a long day at work. The
trial run is fun and interactive, a clear mind and energy is very important
to a successful trial run appointment.

Where do we do the trial run?
At my private studio.

I don't have my veil yet. Should I wait to do my trial run?
Not necessarily. I have several veils, headpieces, tiaras,
and etc. to work with. If you haven't picked one out yet, I can also help
you select the type best for your hairstyle.

What should I expect at the trial run?
Plan a day when you can devote about 2 to 2½ hours for
fun. We will try different styles and looks until we find the one you
like best. And don't forget to have a date for the evening, because you'll
look and feel gorgeous.

What should I do to be prepared for my trial run?
Spend some time looking at pictures to get an idea of the
look you want. Also check with your bridal party, moms, grandmas, etc. That
way you can give me a more accurate count for Your Day. Also, be sure to pick
a day that you will not feel rushed.

Hair Questions
I have no idea what to do with my hair or makeup. Where should I start?
I recommend you begin looking through magazines and cut
out pictures of styles and looks that appeal to you. Then set up a trial run so we can look over the pictures you have
gathered. Together we will find a style and look that flatters your facial
features and personal style.

I have real short hair. Do I need a hairstylist?
The short answer is "yes." This is your Special
Day, and you deserve to feel equally special.

I think my hair is too short for an updo. What
can I do?
I get this question a lot. Not to worry. We'll simply
attach temporary hairpieces or extensions and no one will know (unless you
tell them).

Makeup Questions
I have no idea what to do with my hair or makeup. Where should I start?
I recommend you begin looking through magazines and cut
out pictures of styles and looks that appeal to you. Then set up a trial run so we can look over the pictures you have
gathered. Together we will find a style and look that flatters your facial
features and personal style.

What type of makeup do you use?
The makeup I use is professional quality. One of my
favorites is Trucco.

Event Questions
Do you just do weddings?
Although I specialize in weddings, I do hair and makeup
for proms, debutantes, photoshoots,
engagement pictures, bridal portraits as well as
makeup lessons.

Do you require a deposit to hold the wedding date?
Yes. The deposit is 50% of the wedding day services.

What can I expect on the day of my wedding?
I will show up early to set up. I will need a chair and a
small table set up in a well-lit area near an outlet. This is your
day, and I'm here to ensure you and your bridal party
look beautiful. Suggestion: Have water and something for you and your
girls to snack on! It is easy to forget to eat and drink when you are
excited.

What do I do if I need touchups after you leave?
You have a couple of options. I offer touchups on site at
an hourly rate. See my pricing for more
information. This is a great idea for the first couple of hours during
pictures, the ceremony, and toasting and cake cutting. These times create a
need for touchups due to wind, tears, champagne and cake.
The other option is for me to suggest a couple products
that you should have in an "emergency
makeup kit", then you can have a bridesmaid, or someone
you choose, keep it with her.

How far will you travel and what is the travel charge?
I do not limit the places that I will travel.
Mountain Resorts are not a problem. In most cases, there is no fee for
travel. I start charging if your location is South of Castlerock,
North of Longmont, and West of Evergreen and the fee can vary depending on
the number of people and the distance. Just call at 303-881-7130, use the contact
